We booked Linden for a long weekend and stayed on for three more nights. The lime tree outside the window, the parquet, the quiet. It felt like borrowing a friend's flat.

The hosts met us at the door with a map and a list of bakeries. Salon is beautiful, tall rooms and good beds, and the tram stop is round the corner.

Atelier has the best light of any apartment we have stayed in. Four flights of stairs, and we did not mind once we were up there.

Lovely old building, very quiet at night. The wood stove is a real stove, which our children found thrilling. A lift would have been nice, but that is the price of an old house.
We were two couples in Courtyard and it worked perfectly. Long table, good kitchen, both bedrooms silent. We cooked three nights out of five.

Parlour with two kids: the big green room became our living room, and the hosts left a basket of fruit and a list of playgrounds. We will be back next summer.
